Budgeted Gaming

I’m a “Budgeted Gamer.”  What this means is I lack the money needed to buy and play all the fancy new games when they come out.  As a result, I dig through the ads and bargain bins to find the game I wanted last year.  This allows me to play the games I deemed a “must play” on launch day.  So to help me shorten the burn of not having the next amazing game I play demos, cheap mobile games, and buy downloadable content.  Slowly some developers are realizing more and more that people are becoming Budgeted Gamers.  However, if more developers used the time in-between the game being “finished” and shipped more wisely, then I think games would be more profitable for developers.

Game Demos Gone Wrong

I have noticed ever since around 2006-2007, when I got my first Xbox 360, that game demos have most always been the best 10 minutes a game can offer. The reason is because I wanted to know if the demo portrayed the game correctly. In most cases it did not.

Where Controllers Fail

Have you ever missed a headshot because the controller wasn't precise enough for you? Have you ever had your thumb slip off the thumb stick when it mattered most? Ever feel like the buttons are positioned in the wrong places when you need to do a complicated move? Have you ever run out of batteries when playing? I have and it sucks. I always thought the standard keyboard and mouse was always easier to use for most games because the controller is limited in many ways.

3DS Game Showings

So after watching the preview event for the 3DS I found out which games will be coming out and among them there are some gems that I am curious about.

First of all I have to say the ones that I have had on my radar are still there. Starfox looks great and Zelda will definitely satisfy and since it will be re-mastered I'm excited to see how much clearer everything will look. The newish Solid Snake is something that I can't wait for, I'm just curious as to if it will make sense to the people who have not played the other ones before it. Also it's going to be even harder to wait for the new Kid Icarus now seeing that the console will be coming out, at least in Europe, on the 25.
